STANDING COMMITTEES:

  • Parish Council >

    Open or Close

    Our mission is to work with the priest and administrator to lead our Parish spiritually and to effectively coordinate Parish activities. According to our bi-laws St. Joseph Parish Council is made up of the Parish Administrator, Parish staff, trustees, 4 elected members and representatives of Parish Organizations. We meet every other month usually on Wed. night. Our Secretary is Julie Winner.

  • Altar Care >

    Open or Close

    Our mission is to care for our Sanctuary maintaining a fitting place for worship. We clean the Sanctuary and Sacristy weekly in teams of two usually one time a month. We care for Altar linen replacing as necessary in accordance with the seasons as well as dust, remove wax and generally pick up the areas.

    Maintenance is accomplished by a group of volunteers including mowing, shoveling, electrical, cleaning etc. Help in any of these areas will be very much appreciated. If you have talents to share in this area contact:

  • Finance Committee >

    This committee is made up of 1 Parish representative, President of Parish Council and 2 Trustees who with our Business Manager make up our budget and oversee all finances for our Parish.

  • Collection Counters >

    Our mission is to accurately count and record all Parish Collections. We work in teams of two non-related people which are changed regularly. We count and record weekly collections and deposit the funds. All counters are aware of and follow diocesan guidelines for this position. Counting is always done on Sunday or Monday and teams are assigned one time a month. Training available...

  • St. Joseph Society >

    Our mission is to serve as workers for our Parish modeled after St. Joseph, the worker. Our core group meets as needed. It consists of: President, Vice President, Secretary/treasurer, Sunshine Secretary and the heads of each project committee. Although we supply central financing, each committee meets individually and is responsible for their individual project. Our primary income is derived from our monthly fish dinners which enable us to provide monetary support for many Parish activities such as our Parish Feast Day celebration, 4 Scholarships for graduating seniors, flowers, gifts and cards to Parishioners in need of support, supplies for the Parish Hall and a monthly donation to the Parish.

ST. JOSEPH'S SOCIETY COMMITTEES:

  • Fish Dinner >

    Our mission is to financially support St. Joseph Society while providing the residents of Oxford and surrounding area with a meal and gathering place at an affordable price. Our fish dinners are held first Fridays 5-7:30pm Oct. – Dec. & Feb.-May. We have been operating for 23 years and have two teams which alternate working the events. We feature homemade desserts and are always in need of bakers as well as workers or all ages. We also have a set up crew that works during preceding week. During the summer we hold Chicken Bar B Qs.   • Altar Rosary Society >

    Our mission is to pray for the Church, our Parish and the World as well as individual needs. We meet the first Monday of each month at 2pm to pray the Rosary followed by a business/social time. We serve the Parish in prayer and action. Recently we published a Parish cookbook to support our efforts. Each Wed. of Lent we lead a Parish Rosary at 6pm and, upon request, are available to pray the Rosary at family homes and wake services. We are currently comprised of women but not limited to women and are always pleased to have people join us on an occasional or regular basis.

  • Funeral Luncheon Committee >

    Our mission is to support grieving families by supplying lunch and a place to gather following funerals. This finely tuned group quietly and efficiently provides a hot or cold meal as requested by the family. There is no charge for this service but donations are accepted. Salads & cold food is prepared at home and delivered to the Parish Hall while cooks prepare hot food in the Parish kitchen. There is also a serving committee and clean up committee. This is a wonderful and fulfilling service and new volunteers are always welcome. Contact: Sheila Strobel.

  • Easter Egg Committee >

    Our mission is to raise funds to maintain and improve our Altar and Sanctuary thereby providing a pleasing setting for worship. Our goal is to raise funds by supplying a product of interest both to Parishioners and the surrounding community. Our colorfully hand painted wooden Easter Eggs are imported from Poland and sold only during Lent. Eggs are sold at Church after Masses and at fish dinners. However, several Parishioners make them available to the community through their workplace. Volunteers welcome.

LITURGICAL MINISTRY:

  • Liturgy Committee >

    Open or Close

    Our mission is to work with the priest to create liturgy that is spiritually uplifting and meaningful. Membership is comprised of representatives from ministries involved in Liturgy. We meet with the priest to coordinate liturgical celebrations so that our liturgies run smoothly and each ministry knows and handles its part. We also keep records of each liturgy for future reference.

  • Altar Server Ministry >

    Our mission is to assist the celebrant to create a smoothly run liturgy. We have adult Altar Servers on Sat. night and young people at all other liturgies. We serve in groups of two or three about once a month. Training sessions are run yearly and adult support is available at all times.   • Music Ministry >

    Our mission is to provide musical enhancement to Liturgies thus creating a faith filled and uplifting environment. Our ministry consists of three groups – at. Sat. Mass we provide guitar and choir, and our Sunday Liturgy alternates between organ w/choir and guitar/choir. Practice is ½ hour before Mass. We sing all the parts of Mass as well as the usual hymns and the Responsorial. New members are always welcome.

  • Eucharistic Ministers of the Holy Eucharist >

All volunteers welcome - Contact: John FrancoOur mission is to reverently assist the priest with Holy Communion. Sat. nights we have one Minister of the Holy Eucharist and on Sunday and all other liturgies we have two Ministers of the Cup and one Minister of the Eucharist. Our goal is to have each person serve once a month and so far we have been able to reach this goal. Training is held on an as needed basis of one or two classes.

  • Lector & Usher Ministry >

    Our mission is to serve the priest and the Parish Community by proclaiming the Word of God and support our Parish in an enthusiastic and welcoming manner. We serve at all Masses on a monthly basis. Our goal also is to maintain our ministry so that members serve one time a month. Our Sunday goal has been met but Sat. night ministers are needed and substitutes are always welcome. Training is supplied on an as needed basis. Lectors attend a class and ushers are trained by assisting presently active ushers. For more information

  • Greeter Ministry >

    Our mission is to create a welcoming atmosphere at all liturgies thereby helping to make worship with us a fulfilling experience for Parishioners and visitors alike. This is a new ministry here at St. Joseph Parish and one we are finding to be both fulfilling and positive. As with all our ministries the goal is to have enough members so that everyone serves one time a month. Greeters are needed at both Sat. & Sunday Masses.
